Kim Chan is a self-taught artist. She studied design and audio-visual production at college, and eventually worked as a photographer for many years. Part of that time, she worked as the staff photographer at The Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta. Through this job, she got to work with and became friends with many new and established artists. She photographed their work, sat in their lectures and critiques, and after seven years there, got a peripheral but considerable art educational.
After moving back to Toronto, she settled down and had a family. About six years ago, she set up a studio at home and started painting. She now has a body of work, mostly large acrylic paintings of semi abstract figures. She had solo photography shows in Alberta, and is now showing her paintings in different galleries in Toronto.
